2012 Kid's Run

CCC 5K A SUCCESS!

CCC celebrated nature, childhood, and each other with our first annual Nurture Nature Family Fun 5K Walk, Run, & Stroll on the beautiful and breezy 28th day of April 2012.  What a wonderful day it was!

Our goal was to raise money to support green initiatives in our school, while raising awareness about how each of us can contribute to the good health of our earth and each other.  We are so happy to say that we have reached our goal, and that we will in fact be able to reduce our carbon footprint as we had hoped by purchasing cellulose insulation as recommended in our energy audit.  We will even be able to create new raised beds for the CCC children’s vegetable garden with the funds that we have raised:  a grand total of $2700.97!

This event and our raised bed vegetable garden project were both initiated by parents, and supported wholeheartedly by many CCC staff and families, past and present, and by the larger community .  Children happily created leaves for our giving tree and put a lot of thought into what it means to give; teachers and parents – both current and alumni alike - donated time, talents, and materials; and community sponsors responded generously with in-kind donations. We are so appreciative of the heightened awareness that this event brought about the nature of our school and the beautiful nature that surrounds us.  CCC is committed to continuing our work to nurture nature while celebrating childhood, and this event has given us a welcome opportunity to share our focus with the larger community.  Thank you for your part!
